
November 30, (THEWILL) – Afrobeats superstar, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has cancelled all his shows scheduled for December to focus on his health.
Rema made this announcement on his Instagram story on Wednesday, 29 November.
Having risen to prominence with his chart-topping hits, Rema expressed that the toll of years spent touring had taken a toll on his health. In a concise statement, he shared, “Breaks my heart to say that I won’t be performing anywhere this December. Been years of touring I’ve ignored my health & I need time to recuperate. 2024 we go again love.”
Reacting, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, in a post via Instagram, said their job is not easy and applauded Rema for exceeding expectations and making Africa proud.
He wrote: “The job ain’t easy…physically and mentally!!. You’ve done Africa and the world proud beyond expectations. Get some rest king @heisrema come back stronger.”
This comes shortly after Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki, revealed his intentions to host a spectacular Homecoming Music Concert on December 21 for the talented Edo-born artist, Rema.
Obaseki, enthusiastically shared his anticipation of bringing Rema back to his origins during a conversation with youths at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City on Wednesday, as detailed in a statement by the state government.
The statement quoted Obaseki saying, “By the grace of God, this Christmas, we will bring Rema home. Rema will have a Homecoming Concert.”
