
November 30, (THEWILL) – The House of Representatives has passed the N27.5trn 2024 budget for a second reading.
President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, Presented the appropriation bill to a joint session of the National Assembly.
Tagged “Budget of Renewed Hope,” President Tinubu outlined Nigeria’s national defence and internal security, local job creation, macroeconomic stability, investment environment optimisation, human capital development, poverty reduction, and social security as top priorities of the budget.
Leading the debate on the general principles of the budget at plenary on Thursday, House Leader, Julius Ihonvbere, commended President Tinubu, noting that national security and education, which got significant allocations, will be enhanced if implemented.
“Nigeria will be more secure with the allocation to defence and security. As a teacher, I am impressed by the emphasis on basic education. I am sure that education will be better off this time,” he said.
