January 04, (THEWILL) – At least two people including a police officer and a photographer, have been confirmed killed in an accident involving the convoy of Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Muhammad Idris Gobir.
THEWILL gathered that the accident occurred on Wednesday evening, while the Deputy Governor was returning to Sokoto, the state capital, after an official trip to Sabon Birni.
The state Governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, alongside his Deputy had led another party faithful to Sabon Birni on official duty.
The spokesperson of the Sokoto Police Command, ASP Ahmed Rufa’i, said the accident involved the Deputy Governor’s convoy pilot vehicle, driven by a police officer and one person, a photographer, who both died on the spot.
“Others who sustained injuries are already receiving treatment at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, here in Sokoto.
“The incident happened while they were coming back from Sabon Birni Local Government to Sokoto”, he added.
