Sacked Adamawa North Senator Abbo Apologises To Akpabio

October 18, (THEWILL) – The sacked Adamawa North Senator, Elisha Abbo, has apologised for accusing the senate president, Godswill Akpabio, of plotting his removal.

THEWILL reports that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, on Monday, sacked Abbo as Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District and declared Amos Yohanna of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as winner of the February 25 national Assembly election held Adamawa North.

Speaking with newsmen at his residence in Abuja shortly after the Court judgment, Abbo who fingered Akpabio in his sacked, claimed that the Senate President also has plans to remove the former chief whip of the senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and four other senators for not backing his senate presidency bid.

But in a swift rebuttal on Tuesday, the Senate President in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, described the claims as delinquent, provocative and unbecoming of a distinguished Senator.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, Abbo apologised to the senate president.

“I have to say this with all sense of humility and responsibility that the press release we issued yesterday was premature and based on the available information at our disposal yesterday.

“As of today, we have discovered a lot of things, and yesterday night I had a discussion with the Senate President, and I am convinced that he is not involved”, he said.

He quoted Akpabio saying “I swear by my mother’s grave that I’m not involved; I don’t even know that you’re in court.”

Abbo further stated: “For a number three citizen to come up to tell me that he has sworn on his mother’s grave, a woman that he loves so much, a woman who brought him up after he lost his father at the age of six, I don’t see a reason why he would lie.”
