
September 02, (THEWILL) –Â Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday uncovered and seized cartons of Captagon pills at the Apapa Port, Lagos state.
The drugs were concealed in the cylinder of an imported machine. Captagon, a stimulant for insomnia, is a common medication taken by insurgents.
A statement signed by the Customs Area Command Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Usman, said the discovery is the result of a joint operation that lasted for a week.
The statement added that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the seizure while further examination and counting are ongoing. It further added that the operation will be sustained in the fight against smuggling and other infractions.
