December 29, (THEWILL) – Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, on Sunday, bid farewell to 70 beneficiaries of his foreign scholarship scheme at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
The beneficiaries, who received admission letters on September 9, 2024, are heading to reputable institutions in India to pursue higher degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Robotics Science.
Senator Jibrin gifted each beneficiary $200 and announced that N30 million would be shared among them, courtesy of contributions from well-wishers.
He emphasised the importance of education in developing human capital, particularly in the northern region.
The beneficiaries, comprising 65 males and five females from Kano State’s three senatorial districts, were selected based on merit.
Senator Jibrin urged them to be good ambassadors of Kano State and Nigeria, study hard, and focus on becoming self-employed upon their return.
The scholarship programme is an initiative of the Barau I. Jibrin Foundation, which aims to support the development of education in the northern region.
