
November 01, (THEWILL) – The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Shaakaa Chira, as substantive Auditor General of the Federation (AuGF).
President Bola Tinubu had on Friday, October 20, approved the appointment of Chira as substantive Auditor-General of the Federation.
His appointment followed the recommendation of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), where he emerged as the most qualified candidate with the highest score in the examination conducted for all qualified candidates for the office.
Meanwhile, the Red chamber has also confirmed the appointment of seven of the ten nominees of President Tinubu as Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).
President Tinubu, on Tuesday, October 31, transmitted the names of the seven REC nominees and that of Chira to the Senate for confirmation.
Among the RECs confirmed on Wednesday, were: Umoren (Akwa Ibom), Isah Shaka Ehimeakne (Edo), Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola (Ekiti), Abubakar Ahmed Ma’aji (Gombe), Shehu Wahab (Kwara), Prof. Mohammed Yelwa (Niger) and Aminu Kasimu Idris (Nasarawa).
However, REC nominees from Rivers State, Anugbum Onuoha; Zamfara State, Isma’ila Kaura Moyi; and Lagos State, Bunmi Omoseyindemi, did not appear for screening.
All the nominees were asked to take a bow and go after their introductory remarks by the Senate.
