September 7, (THEWILL) – Seun Kuti, Afrobeat singer and Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s son, will appear before a Magistrate Court in Yaba, on September 27.
The singer was to be arraigned on Monday, but the Chief Magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, who was to preside over the case, was indisposed, leading to an adjournment till September 27.
The musician was taken after the former Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, on May 13, ordered his arrest for assaulting a police officer in uniform on the Third Mainland Bridge.
In his defence, Kuti, through his Instagram Story, said the police officer tried to kill him, but he would not press charges.
After his arrest, he was handcuffed and taken to the state CID in Panti, Yaba, for investigation, but was released on May 23 after meeting the conditions of his bail.
