Sokoto Govt To Prioritise Due Process In Procurement, Ensure Value For Money

December 31, (THEWILL) — The Sokoto State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strict compliance with public procurement standards and due process in the award and execution of contracts, as part of efforts to ensure value for money and strengthen the fight against corruption.

The newly appointed Executive Secretary of the State Bureau for Public Procurement, Alhaji Abubakar Gagi, stated this on Wednesday while formally taking over the affairs of the Bureau in Sokoto.

Gagi described the Bureau as a critical institution in entrenching transparency, accountability and due process in government contracts and procurement activities across the state.

He thanked Governor Ahmed Aliyu for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity to serve the state, assuring that his administration would operate an open-door policy to enhance efficiency and effective service delivery.

According to him, strict adherence to standard procurement procedures, as well as compliance with stipulated monetary and fiscal policies, remain the backbone of institutionalising prudence, integrity and accountability in governance.

Speaking earlier, the Bureau’s Legal Secretary, Mr Sufyanu Saidu, pledged the support and cooperation of staff to enable the new Executive Secretary succeed in his assignment.

Saidu said the workforce was fully prepared to work with the new leadership to harness productive engagements and drive the state’s economic growth and development.

In separate remarks, Matawallen Gagi, Alhaji Umar Bala, Dikkon Mana, Alhaji Bello Muhammad and the Sokoto State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Mr Murtala Muhammad, expressed gratitude to Governor Aliyu for appointing their son to the position.

They charged Alhaji Gagi to uphold integrity and serve as a worthy ambassador of the Gagi community in the discharge of his duties.
