South East Must Embrace APC To Connect With Government At Centre – Ganduje

Ganduje

February 08, (THEWILL) – The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has assured that the party will establish a stronghold in Anambra State and integrate the South-East into Nigeria’s ruling political structure by November 2024.

Speaking at the commissioning of the APC state secretariat in Awka on Saturday, Ganduje emphasised that the South-East must embrace the party to avoid being sidelined in national governance.

“The easiest way for the South-East to reconnect with the centre is to embrace the APC. We must ensure that this region is no longer left out of governance and national development,”he said.

The newly inaugurated APC state secretariat was procured, equipped, and furnished by two governorship aspirants, including Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, who has emerged as a leading contender for the party’s ticket ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

Addressing party faithful, Ganduje described the Igbo as the most nationalistic people in Nigeria, stating that their widespread presence across the country is proof of their nation-building spirit.

However, he urged them to align politically with the APC to fully benefit from governance.

“We want to connect you to the centre. Right now, politically, you are under rural electrification, running on generators. This is unacceptable. You need to connect to the national grid,” he said.

Ganduje further assured that President Bola Tinubu** remains committed to national unity and progressive reforms, adding that economic recovery efforts were already yielding results.

“Tinubu is fixing what was broken. Oil production is increasing, security is improving, refineries are coming back to life, and our currency is stabilizing. These are signs of a leader who works with facts and figures, not mere rhetoric,”he stated.

Meanwhile, governorship aspirants used the secretariat inauguration as a platform to showcase their political strength, with Prof. Obiora Okonkwo emerging as the crowd favorite.

Pledging to secure Anambra’s governorship seat for the APC, Okonkwo assured party members of a robust and result-driven campaign.

“The APC in Anambra has changed. If given the ticket, I will lead the strongest campaign that will deliver victory. I will hand over the Certificate of Occupancy of the Anambra Government House to APC,” he declared.
