April 26, (THEWILL) – A Group under the aegis of Niger Delta Watchdogs (NDW), has described recent statement issued by a faceless group, calling for non-reappointment of Major General Barry Tariye Ndiomu, as Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), as laughable, passing it as the worst from the pit of hell.
In a statement signed by chief Abraham Oghenekibo and made available to journalists, the group called on ex-agitators to comply with the requirements of bringing the full list of members in their various camps, their particulars, as well as photographs.
“These are sponsored social media works and nobody will take them serious, not even the mad men on the streets.
“Who are the angry militants from the nine Niger Delta States that are kicking against his re-appointment, and who is Layefa Dunnbo, who spoke on their behalf?
“We are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Presidency, not to split their concentration over unruly and faceless individuals and groups if at all they ever exists.
“Major General Barry Tariye Ndiomu is one man, who got enlisted into the Nigerian Army and steadily grew to the position of Major General before his retirement.
“There are some people who severally blame the Federal Government of not developing the Niger Delta region, f those that were awarded contracts by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), had all executed their contracts, the region would have been better. They got the jobs, blocking genuine contractors, received mobilisation fees and abandoned the jobs and today they are criticising the Federal Government for being insensitive to their plights.
“Most of these boys who call themselves Generals have boys under them that they have not been paying after collecting their money, some are dead and many are fictitious.
“And so it’s expected that the various leaders who claim to be aggrieved should come with clean hands, coming with the alleged 3,000 persons that they claim the Interim Administrator delisted. If he delisted 3,000 names, is it one of the faceless Layefe Dumbo, whose records we doubt are with PAP that should be ranting?
“Beyond that, people should not see the social media as a platform to sell lies and promote injustice,” the Group warned.
On the suspension of Cletus Reuben and Olusegun, the Niger Delta Watchdogs called on President Muhammadu Buhari not to be diverted by the cries of wolfs, but set up a special panel to investigate the issue and appropriately penalise the offenders.
They warned the faceless Peace Renaissance to channel their efforts on more positive and result-oriented ventures than crying wolf where there is none.
“Major General Barry Tariye Ndiomu is a man with high discipline and integrity. It wasn’t these boys that were instrumental to his appointment, and not any of their spurious publications will make a difference.
“We know those behind them, but as Ijaw people, we are cautious of our existence and relationship.
“We are also using this medium to warm social media platform owners not to see the laws of the land as not existing. A good journalist is one who only publishes verified stories so that society can rely on him”, Chief Abraham Oghenekibo stated.
