November 14, (THEWILL) – Members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN),on Tuesday, shut down the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, in compliance with the ongoing nationwide strike by organised labour.
Both the Lawmakers of the two Chambers, as well as Staff of the National Assembly and others, were locked out, as the entrances into the Complex were locked.
One of the officials of PASAN, NASS Branch, told newsmen that the union was “complying with the directive of the Labour unions to shut everything down”, adding that only a few staff who arrived early at the complex were able to enter the complex.
THEWILL, on Monday, reported that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), declared a nationwide industrial action effective Tuesday, over the brutalisation of the President of the NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero in Owerri, Imo State, failure of the Federal Government to address issues affecting workers, such as the minimum wage, insecurity, corruption and poor governance.
