July 07, (THEWILL) – Governor Agbu Kefas has declared free education in all Taraba primary and secondary schools, beginning with the next academic session.
The Governor, in a statement by his media Spokesman, Emmanuel Bello, said the decision is directed to mitigate the effects of subsidy removal on petrol.
Bello said the Governor made the declaration at the Ebenezer Primary School in Wukari, during an inspection tour.
Earlier, Kefas announced a 50% reduction in university tuition.
“Some parents said the hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy has made payments of school fees difficult. They said the slash has raised their hopes,” Bello added.
