January 09, (THEWILL) – The Supreme has reserved judgment in the appeal filed by Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, seeking to quash the judgement of the Court of Appeal, which nullified his victory in the March 18th gubernatorial election in the State.
A three-member panel of the Court of Appeal, led by Justice Elphreda Williams-Dawodu, had declared Nentawe Goshwe of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the March 18 governorship election in the State.
The court had nullified the victory of Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over an inappropriate nomination procedure leading to his election.
It also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Mutfwang and issue a fresh one to Goshwe.
Mutfwang had approached the Supreme Court to challenge the judgement of the lower court.
A five-member panel of the apex court, led by Justice Inyang Okoro, on Tuesday, adjourned the appeal for judgment after all the parties argued their case and adopted their processes.
