Supreme Court Reserves Judgment In Sokoto Governorship Election

January 17, (THEWILL) – The Supreme Court has reserved judgment on the appeal filed by Saidu Umar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), against the victory of Governor Ahmad Aliyu of the All of Progressives Congress (APC), in the 2023 gubernatorial election in Sokoto State.

A 5-member panel of justices of the apex court led by Kudirat Kekere-Ekun on Wednesday, adjourned the appeal for judgment after the parties had adopted their processes.

Umar is challenging the concurrent decision of the tribunal and the court of appeal that affirmed the election of Governor Umar and his Deputy Idris Gobir, in the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election.
