November 16, (THEWILL) – The Supreme Court of Nigeria has resolved a 13-year-old leadership dispute at the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, BCS.
This was made known by the Office of the Spokesman at the BCS World Headquarters in Calabar
The dispute arose in the 2008 suit filed in the Federal High Court.
It was initiated by Helen Johnson Udo aka Queen Mother (deceased) against the registered Trustees of the BCS being headed by His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu.
She was restrained from interfering in the affairs, assets, properties, finances and administration of the BCS.
She appealed against the judgment and orders of the Federal High Court where her appeal was dismissed.
Still dissatisfied, Helen Udo appealed to the Supreme Court in 2011 for a reversal of the judgment of the Court of Appeal which came to an end at the Apex Court on the 8th of November, 2021.
The Supreme Court on the 8th of November 2021 in a unanimous judgment delivered by Honourable Justice Olukayode Ariwoola dismissed the substantive appeal.
The BCS in a release signed by its spokesman Christ Shepherd Edet Archibong said “By this final decision of the supreme court, the action of Helen Udo has ended.
“Those who took refuge in the legal processes initiated and continued to illegally assume control over a few of the BCS worship centres (Bethels) and by extension the affairs of BCS in Nigeria and abroad in those centres no longer have any legal basis for their action.
“The remnants of the disloyal brethren are hereby advised to feel free to return to the fold or face the repercussion of their action”, he said.
He added that by the decision of the supreme court, the divine position occupied by His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu as the Executive Chairman and Head of Administration and indeed Leader of the BCS Worldwide has been affirmed.
