BEVERLY HILLS, March 24, (THEWILL) – The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor Amuni Tambuwal is neck and neck in the race with his main challenger, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu.

Before Saturday’s supplementary elections, incumbent Tambuwal had polled 489,558 votes while Aliyu had 486,145 votes, leaving a difference of 3, 413 votes .

Results from 21 local government areas have been announced out of the 22 LGAs where the supplementary elections took place. The APC led in 14 while PDP claimed 7 LGAs.

From the results announced, the APC polled 18, 342 votes while PDP polled 16, 987 votes, leaving a difference of 1, 355 votes.

From these results, APC’s Aliyu has reduced the difference from 3,413 to 2,058 votes.

The remaining Kebbe LGA has at least 20,000 registered voters, thereby putting Tambuwal in an uncertain situation.

At the moment, Tambuwal has gained a total of 506,545 votes from both the first ballot and the Saturday’s supplementary elections, while Aliyu has 504,488.

At about 03:30 a.m. on Sunday, the Returning Officer, Fatima Mukhtar, announced that Kebbe results were not available yet and that officials from there were just on their way to Sokoto.
