September 23, (THEWILL) — The State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Isah Sadeeq Achida, has described the administration of former Governor of the State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, as failing to deliver the much-needed dividends of democracy to Sokoto state.
In an interview with journalists, Achida also said the former governor had left behind “a state riddled with abandoned projects”.
He recounts how the former governor deliberately refused to formally hand over to Governor Ahmed Aliyu in 2023 to avoid being recorded as leaving behind “a state riddled with abandoned projects”.
He explained that Tambuwal’s actions were aimed at frustrating the present administration, but maintained that Governor Aliyu has so far demonstrated prudent financial management and accountability.
His words: “Since Ahmed Aliyu assumed office, salaries are paid on or before the 21st of every month, the new minimum wage has been implemented, and major projects are ongoing—all without loans.
“He is focused on the welfare of the people, not looting their resources”, Achida further stated.
The Chairman, however, ruled out the possibility of Tambuwal contesting future senatorial elections, declaring him “politically retired”.
“Tambuwal’s rise to power was largely dependent on political godfathers, particularly Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko in 2015.
“No Abuja alliance, no media propaganda, no recycled coalition can revive a politician whose only legacy is propaganda and a collapsed state”, Achida said.
