May 12, (THEWILL) – The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), says it would carry out scheduled maintenance on one of its transformers at Birnin Kebbi Transmission Substation on Saturday, 13th May, 2023.

The company in a statement issued on Friday, by its General Manager (Public Affairs), Ndidi Mbah, said the maintenance would last for five hours from 9am to 2pm.

“Consequentially, there will be power interruption for five hours, to create a safe working environment for TCN maintenance crew to carry out their work.

“Areas that would be affected under the Kaduna DisCo franchise area, include, Kebbi and Sokoto States. Therefore, electricity customers with the two states will experience power interruption on Saturday for five hours, from 9am to 2pm on Saturday, 13th of May.

“Please bear with us. Bulk power supply will be restored to Kaduna DisCo as indicated”, the statement added.

Meanwhile, TCN’s in-house engineers have begun the installation of the new 100MVA 132/33kV power transformer recently taken to the Kumbotso 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation, in Kano.

The transformer is part of the TCN/World Bank projects, and on completion of installation, the transformer will add 80MW to the capacity of the substation.
