
July 19, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate to seek confirmation of the appointment of the Chairman and members of the governing board of the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, read the letter at plenary on Wednesday. The President said the request was in line with the provision of section 5(1) of the NEDC Act 2023.
“I write to present for confirmation by the Distinguished members of the Senate, the appointment of the Chairman and members of Executive Management of the board of the North-East Development Commission.
“May I hope that the request will receive the usual expeditious consideration of the Senate,” the letter read.
The nominees include:
1. Gen. Paul Tarfa (Rtd) – Chairman (North East – Adamawa)
2. Hon. Tanko Maikau – Member (North East – Taraba)
3. Abdullahi Abbas – Member (North West – Kano)
4. Sir Stephen Ondura – Member (North Central)
5. Chief Motiu Lawal Are – Member (South West – Lagos)
6. Samuel Ifeanyi Umuigbo – Member (South East – Abia)
7. Frank Achilike Owoh – Member (South-South – Rivers)
8. Mohammed Alkali – Managing Director (North East Borno)
9. Musa Yashi – Executive Director, Humanitarian Affairs (North East- Bauchi)
10. Ahmed Abdusalam Yahaya – Executive Director (North East – Gombe)
11. Dr. Abubakar Garba – Executive Director, Admin & Finance (North East – Yobe)
12. 2 Representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Budget & National Planning (as members).
