May 31, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, met with the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Though details of the meeting are sketchy, THEWILL reports it may not be unconnected to the squables between the anti-graft agency and the Department of State Services (DSS), over a property at Awolowo Road, in Ikoyi, Lagos.
On Tuesday, THEWILL reported that DSS operatives laid siege on the EFFC office at Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, preventing staff of the anti-graft agency from gaining access to the facility.
The EFCC, had in a statement, said the siege was a threat to the fight against economic and financial crimes in the country.
While the DSS denied the allegation, a statement signed by its Spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, said its operatives only occupied the DSS section of the building.
According to him, there is no rivalry between the two agencies as both are working for the good of the country.
The President, however, directed the DSS to vacate the office, adding that “if there were issues between the two important agencies of government, they would be resolved amicably.”
