January 19, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu has ordered a full investigation into the gruesome killing of a housewife, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children in Kano State, describing the incident as barbaric and unacceptable.

Fatima Abubakar, 35, and her children were murdered on Saturday, January 17, 2026, during a violent attack at Dorayi Chiranci Quarters in Kano metropolis.

The victims were killed after assailants broke into their home and inflicted fatal injuries using dangerous weapons.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage across the country, with citizens calling for swift justice and improved security measures for vulnerable communities.

In a statement signed on Monday, January 19, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President condoled with the bereaved family and assured Nigerians that the perpetrators would be held accountable.

He condemned the act as a tragic loss and a violation of the sanctity of life.

President Tinubu also commended the Kano State Police Command for its swift response, which led to the arrest of three principal suspects within 24 hours of the crime.

He directed security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others.
