The Anti-corruption crusader, Major-Gen. Ishola-Williams (Retd) has called on the incoming President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure public safety.
Speaking exclusively with THEWILL on what he expects from Tinubu’s administration, Williams said the incoming administration should ensure public safety with greater effort on enhancing State and Local Government Areas to prevent, deter with the tools and tactics to ensure safe cities, towns and villages in Nigeria.
He said sophisticated weapons will not defeat but educated and well informed soldiers with good tactical training with motivation are needed.
He said “Can the next regime continue to spend Trillions, with health and education not up to par with the Armed Forces, Police and other Agencies, without improvement in maintenance of equipment, weapons system and public safety?
Williams specifically asked Tinubu’s presidency to reorganize the Police and other agencies for a new safety and security architecture.
On education, Williams said the incoming administration should make teaching and lecturing an attractive profession.
He said the administration should improve the Federal Secondary Schools and make History, Languages as well as Science and Technical Studies compulsory.
“Merge Federal Universities with several campuses. No University with campuses must have less than 50,000 students. Have one Research University per zone for postgraduate studies and research only. Health Universities must be merged. Have Herbal Medical Doctors as in Ghana and make them the nucleus of our Primary Healthcare System”, he said.
On the fight against corruption, Williams said the way out of corruption is intolerance for impunity.
