LATE TONYE HARRY
SAN FRANCISCO, October 04, (THEWILL) – Rt. Hon. Tonye Harry, a former Speaker of the Rivers State House Of Assembly (2007-2011) is dead.
Tonye, who represented Degema State Constituency in the House of Assembly died in Algiers, the Algerian capital, as he was being flown to France for medicals after he collapsed on Nigeria’s Independence Day whilst playing table tennis at the Port Harcourt Sports Club.
THEWILL gathered that the plane he was being transported in made an emergency stop in Algeria when the politician’s condition escalated in transit. Reports from Rivers State Government circle said he died shortly afterwards inside the aircraft.
The deceased who was first elected into the House of Assembly in 1999, was a ranking member.
