May 30, (THEWILL) – Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, has written an open letter to the president of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The thespian had openly thrown her weight behind the ruling party during the last elections and was vocal about Tinubu winning the election.
The mother of one took to Instagram in a lengthy note where she advised the president.
According to her, many have asked her why she supported Tinubu while insinuating that she collected money.
She added that her family and businesses were threatened because of her choice which she didn’t force on anyone.
Abraham Ajeyemi made it known that she didn’t support the president because of ethnicity, as she is not a Yoruba woman, but from Edo State.
The mother of one added that the president’s office is a big responsibility. One that requires humility, intelligence and courage to govern, and all of these, Tinubu possesses.
“I made a choice to support you out of free will, as have many other Nigerians. I supported you and continued to support you because I have experienced your leadership in Lagos and your achievements as a public servant.”
She, however, observed that the last election showed that not everyone is happy with the new government, not because they hate him in person, but because the system has failed them.
She advised the president to see himself as the father of all. He should listen to the concerns of the people, address their fears, unite Nigerians, and avoid the mistakes of his predecessors to change the narrative.
“The country needs hope and real progress, and you have an opportunity to restore hope in our leaders and country.”
She listed some of the challenges which the country is presently facing including inflation, poverty, and insecurity, the thespian noted that Nigerians will be watching the president on how he would resolve all the issues.
He urged the new president to hire intelligent minds and listen to their advice while giving them the freedom to make their contribution to nation-building.
“The faith we put in you as president must be rewarded with progress. Protect your legacy by being honourable”, she concluded.
