
November 23, (THEWILL) — One person has died and three others were injured in a road crash that occurred on the Sagamu–Ikorodu Expressway in Ogun State on Friday.
The accident involved a white-and-black Mack container truck with registration number T17674LA and a white Volkswagen bus, registration number FST513YH.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), confirmed the incident in a statement to newsmen in Abeokuta over the weekend.
He said the driver of the Volkswagen bus attempted an unsafe overtaking maneuver, resulting in a head-on collision with the truck, which was loaded with animal feed.
The collision led to the death of one occupant of the bus.
Akinbiyi added that the vehicles had been towed away, and arrangements were being made with the truck’s manager to transload its cargo to another vehicle.
In a separate incident on Saturday, two people sustained injuries in a multiple-vehicle crash in front of Sango Central Mosque along Sango–Ijoko Road.
The vehicles involved included an ash-colored Toyota Sienna (registration 10189 DLA), a blue Toyota Highlander (MUS 240 HP), two yellow TVS tricycles (LAR 723 QP and GED 893 VC), and a red Boxer motorcycle with an unknown registration number.
According to Akinbiyi, the Toyota Sienna, which was driving against traffic, collided head-on with the Boxer motorcycle before hitting the other vehicles while attempting to flee.
The TRACE spokesperson confirmed that all vehicles involved were towed away and traffic has since returned to normal.
