August 10, (THEWILL) – The National and State House of Assembly elections petition tribunal sitting in Kano, has nullified the election of Muktar Yerima, a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), representing Tarauni Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
Yerima had won a popular vote to the Green chamber during the 2023 General elections.
Hafizu Kawu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25 National Assembly elections, had petitioned the Tribunal to challenge the electoral victory of Muktar Yerima over over certificate forgery.
A three-member panel of the tribunal in a judgement on Thursday, ruled that the primary school certificate tendered by Muktar Yerima was forged.
