February 22, (THEWILL) – The Leadership of Borno Volunteers Youth Vanguard popularly known as Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), said at least 2,000 of its members have been killed while fighting Boko Haram insurgents and other elements in the country.
Speaking, the President Comrade Ba’lawan Jaffar, who was represented by the National Auditor CJTF, Bashir Abbas disclosed this in Maiduguri on Thursday while disassociating cut from some imposters parading themselves as the leaders of the volunteers.
He noted that out of 26,600 members of its capacity strengthened, not fewer than 2,000 members in the fight against insurgents and other bad elements in the region and recently in the northwest region.
“We are supporting the military and other security establishments fighting insecurity in our country, it is important to say this; we have been recognised by the law of Borno State since 2014. We have sacrificed our today for the peace of tomorrow.
“We also provide support to the Multinational Joint Task Force fighting insurgents in Lake Chad including Cameroon, Chad and Niger Republic.
“We have members present in 20 states currently working with military and other security agencies including Northwest. Our members are currently fighting bandits in Sokoto, Kaduna, Niger and other states.” He said.
He warned individuals and communities undermining the security in the northwest to desist and assured the government they would continue to fight restoration of peace in the country.
It would be recalled that they have provided support to the military and other security since its establishment in 2013 in Borno State and beyond.
