May 30, (THEWILL)- The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, says his administration has completed some roads in the 140 communities in the state to link them to strategic locations such as industrial areas, farms/agro-allied enterprises, educational institutions and hospitals.
Nwifuru, who disclosed this on Wednesday, at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium during the grand finale to mark his first year in office, said his administration has been preoccupied with the onerous tasks of rekindling the hope and reigniting the faith of Ebonyi people as encapsulated in the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda.
He disclosed that his administration has made lofty achievements in the areas of security, roads, infrastructure, and human empowerment among others.
He said, “Distinguished Ebonyians, you chose me one year ago to pilot the affairs of our God-given State, Ebonyi, and truly, this year has been highly tremendous and fruitful. Ebonyi has taken its place of distinction among the comity of states that has the emergence of wise and far-reaching plans for the socio-economic well-being of our people.
“Fortunately, it has been a period in which solid foundations have been laid for the future of our great state. We took the oath of office as Governor and Deputy Governor of our great state. The oath to me was not just a requirement for assumption of office, it was a tripartite covenant between us and Almighty God on one hand, Ndi Ebonyi on the other hand. I have always seen the hand of God in all I do.
“This can be seen in the incidence of our assumption of office as Governor and Deputy Governor of this great State, emerging freshly from the Ebonyi State House of Assembly as Mr Speaker and the triumph of mercantilist politics against equity, fairness and justice.
“This is not a mere coincidence. If I reflect on my political journey so far, I know this is what this office means to me, and it will continue to fuel my unwavering commitment to serve God and Ndi Ebonyi, who are the true owners of this government.
“In the last one year, therefore, we have been preoccupied with the onerous tasks of rekindling the hope and reigniting the faith of Ndi Ebonyi in their government as encapsulated in the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda. The crux of the agenda is our vision to give Ndi Ebonyi a focused and qualitative governance whilst creating the enabling environment for a public-private sector partnership, which is critical to the economic growth of the state and individual prosperity of Ndi Ebonyi.
“During our campaign, we promised good governance viewed as being transparent, accountable, open, just, equitable, fair, inclusive, and strict obedience to the rule of law. The last one year has been very eventful. It is noteworthy that our administration has continued to deliver on its electoral promises and mandate. Indeed, our People’s Charter of Needs Agenda is firmly rooted with a solid foundation.
“On this note, I must thank Ndi Ebonyi for always standing by us through the journey to the office; the attempt to subvert the populist will, as seen in the plethora of unnecessary litigations since the assumption of office and through some of the teething challenges that are not unusual in the life of a new administration.
“We are grateful to our dear people, most sincerely for their support, understanding, cooperation and prayers while these political turbulences lasted. To the glory of God, we came out successful, marking a dead end to all litigations,” he stated.
