
May 11, (THEWILL) – In less than three weeks, Dana Airline aircraft was involved in a runway excursion occurrence at Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos, another aircraft belonging to Xejet skidded off the runway at the same Airport today.
THEWILL gathered that the Embraer 145 with registration number 5NBZZ, carrying 52 passengers departed Abuja and on landing in Lagos skidded off runway 18L into the grass verge at about 11:29 Saturday.
Already the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has activated their Fire and Rescue officers, who are on the ground to help in evacuation of the passengers. The agency has also closed Runway 18L to traffic.
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), has confirmed the incident.
According to the Bureau, a go team has been deployed to the site of the incident.
