April 16, (THEWILL) – Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, on Tuesday, presented tuition fees and laptops to 127 law graduates from the state who have gained admission into the Nigerian Law School.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony in Damaturu, Governor Buni said each beneficiary received a sponsorship package of N475,000 along with a laptop to aid their academic work and digital learning experience.
According to him, the gesture underscores his administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and professional development opportunities for Yobe indigenes.
“I am pleased to state that our government has remained consistent in sponsoring students for academic pursuits both locally and internationally. So far, over 38,000 students have benefited from the Yobe State scholarship scheme under this administration,” Buni said.
The Governor noted that this marks the fourth consecutive year that his administration is sponsoring law graduates to the Nigerian Law School, describing the initiative as a deliberate investment in human capital development.
He also revealed that out of 189 graduates who studied medicine and allied health sciences in Indian universities, 140 have already been employed by the state government, while the remaining 49 will be absorbed in due course.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to education, Buni stated that the government would continue to support professional training across various disciplines, including law, accountancy, and public administration.
“This administration will sustain support for law graduates heading to Law School, accountants seeking ANAN or ICAN certification, and public administrators enrolling in ASCON,” he said.
Buni advised the students to remain focused and abide by the rules of the Law School, urging them to be worthy ambassadors of the state.
“You should conduct yourselves with discipline and steer clear of distractions that could derail your academic journey. Make Yobe State proud wherever you go,” he added.
