December 24, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government, through the ministry of Transportation, has declared free services for passenger trains across the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), effective Friday, 24th December to Tuesday, 4th January, 2022.
A statement issued on Friday by the Deputy Director Public Relations, NRC, Yakub Mahmood, said the gesture is to enable Nigerians to travel and celebrate Christmas.
“All the passenger trains on both standard and narrow gauge lines, which include Abuja-Kaduna, Lagos-Ibadan, Warri-Itakpe, Kano–Lagos, Minna-Kaduna, Aba-Port Harcourt routes are now all free from today Friday 24 December to Tuesday, 4 January 2022.
“However, the NRC management further explains that all boarding tickets due process by our valued customers must be complied with but not paid, while covid-19 protocols also must be strictly observed”, the Statement read.
The NRC Managing Director, Engr. Fidet Okhiria, urged Nigerians to maximise the opportunity while urging them to observe covid-19 protocol.
The corporation appealed to Nigerians to “use the Federal Government’s kind gesture to pray for the country”.
