November 06, (THEWILL) – At least 136 students from the University of Uyo will be awarded first class degrees in different fields of studies, during the combined convocation ceremony of the institution, scheduled to be held on November 11, 2023.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, disclosed this during the convocation press briefing in the University campus in Uyo, on Monday.
Ndaeyo also disclosed that the total number of graduands for the combined convocation would be 14,866, which consist of 2,672 Postgraduates, 11,795 Undergraduates, 318 Diploma graduates and 81 Certificate degrees.
He explained that 2017/2018 session produced 49 First Class, 2018/2019 session produced 37 First Class, while 2019/2020 session produced 50 First Class graduates.
“This year convocation is very unique and significant in diverse ways. First, it is a three in one convocation ceremony comprising 26th, 27th and 28th in the series of this great University.
“These ceremony is the first to be conducted since my assumption as the vice chancellor of University of Uyo. The 26th, 27th, and 28th combined convocation has a total of 14,866 graduands”, Ndaeyo said.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the university runs a total of 93 programmes now, adding that 82 of the programmes have received full accreditation.
“The University of Uyo is determined to uphold the already established high academic standard and service delivery”, he added.
Ndaeyo said that the university is making frantic efforts to enhance the welfare of the students by improving facilities in various hostels and halls for their convenience.
He added that the university management attached high premium to staff welfare and ensure promotions are as when due.
Ndaeyo also disclosed that Honorary Degrees of the university would be conferred on three eminent Nigerians during the convocations including Mr Vincent Enyema, Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper, Mr Udom Inoyo, a philanthropist and Advisor to Inoyo Toro Foundation and Sen. Daisy Danjuma.
