June 24, (THEWILL) – Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State announced his administration will invest N2 billion in intervention projects at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta.
Abiodun stated this on Tuesday, at the 15th Combined Convocation Ceremonies of 51,000 Graduands from 2015/2016 to 2023/2024, held at the OGD Auditorium of the school premises.
He said that his government would embark on Intervention projects, including the construction of a 500-seater ultra-modern lecture theatre, a road leading to the auditorium, a building for the Department of Accountancy, the construction of a new SBMS block, as well as the construction of a modern library.
In recognition of their exceptional performance, the governor stated that his administration would award N2.5 million to each of the institution’s best graduating students, a practice consistent with his government’s approach.
The names of the best graduating students are: Sunday Augustine Chibuzor, best graduating student from the Civil Engineering department(structural), 2016; Ogunjimi Titilope Olalekan, Civil Engineering, 2017; Owolabi Joseph Okiwatobiloba, Statistics, 2018; Adewusi Esther Kemi, Food Technology, 2019.
Others are Adeoye Folashade Elizabeth, Microbiology and Biology, 2020; Azeez Kadijat Oliwaseun, Microbiology and Biology, 2021; Ajibola Adeniyi Monday, Civil Engineering, 2022; Orisawaye Samuel Emmanuel, Civil Engineering, 2023; and Akindele Damilare Micheal, Civil Engineering, 2024.
He said, “We will be building a 500-seater ultra-modern lecture theatre, and we will be constructing the road leading to the auditorium of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.
“We will be constructing a building for the department of accountancy, we will be constructing the new SBMS block, we will be constructing and equipping a modern library as well.”
“This total intervention totalled about N2 billion, so we will invest that in this institution.
“In our usual manner, we will be celebrating the best graduating students over the years, that means that the students who are best graduating from 2016, I have here a list.

“So, these students will receive a cash prize of N2.5 million each and the icing on the cake is that we will be presenting Moshood Abiola Polytechnic a school bus to commemorate this combined convocation”, he added.
Earlier, MAPOLY’s Rector, Dr. Babatunde Jolaoso, said that the management under his leadership had embarked on infrastructural development in the area of academic growth, access to quality education, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff participation in skills and capacity development.
Jolaoso noted that the management had provided a stable calendar for the timely processing and release of students’ results and also resuscitated MAPOLY’s Campus Radio for education, entertainment and information
He said, “We have a stable academic calendar, we will ensure compliance with adequate, well-accessible, processing of our timely release of results. MAPOLY today, we have resuscitated and it’s up and life, the running of the MAPOLY Campus Radio for both the teaching, learning, educating, informing and entertaining.
“The management under my leadership has been to restore confidence and embark on academy standards, we are on this, tread so softly and diligently, to be focused and influence-focused leadership with a clear sense of direction and commitment of one and all.”
“We have so far achieved a number of good things in infrastructural development, in academic growth, staff access to quality education, we have also enjoined all of us in the participation to ensure skills development, capacity improvement and of course, welfare of the staff and the students”, he concluded.
