SAN FRANCISCO, September 16, (THEWILL) – The Yobe State Government on Monday said it would support pilgrims from the state on the 2013 Hajj to Saudi Arabia with rams and pilgrims’ clothing, known as Ihram.
The state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, who gave the promise at the inauguration of the state’s official delegation, the Amirul Hajj, to the 2013 Hajj, said the state government will support the state’s pilgrims to this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia by giving a ram for sacrifice to each of the pilgrims and also provide them with free pilgrims’ clothing, Ihram.
He also promised that the state government would provide free meals to the pilgrims at the height of the Hajj exercise in Muna and Arafat.
“Our decision to support the pilgrims is informed by the fact that if everything is left to the individual pilgrim to shoulder, the cost will be too prohibitive. Moreover, the performance of the Hajj is the only single event where the largest numbers of our citizens travel abroad as a group for a common purpose,” he said.
The government said the state government’s support to the pilgrims is to help them focus on their primary duty of performing the Hajj with ease while using the opportunity to pray for peace and progress of the state and the nation in general.
He however advised the pilgrims to be law abiding and good ambassadors of the state and the country while in the Holy Land.
Gaidam also charged the state’s Amirul Hajj, who is also the Speaker of the State Assembly, Alhaji Adamu Dala Dogo, to ensure the welfare of the state’s pilgrims and also guide the pilgrims to conduct themselves with decorum as ambassadors of the state and the country in the Holy Land.
Dogo, in his remarks, assured the governor that his team will do its utmost to see to the welfare of the pilgrims, promising that his team will constantly guide and urge the pilgrims to pray for peace in the state and the nation in general.
