Although, the victory in itself was not enough to confirm their participation in Russia, the qualification was sealed with Peru’s shocking 2-1 win over Uruguay in a later game which guaranteed Brazil a top-four finish in the bloc.

With four rounds of fixtures remaining, Brazil have 33 points, followed by Colombia with 24, Uruguay and Chile with 23 each and fumbling Argentina with 22 points.

Uruguay and Argentina still have to face each other which means it is impossible for both to overtake Brazil.
