June 19, (THEWILL) – The Cross River State Chapter of the Labour Party, has kicked off mobilisation for its presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The State Chairman of the party, Ogar Osim, disclosed this in Calabar, during a stakeholders’ meeting with members of the party.
The meeting, which was graced by hundreds of party men from across the state, was also aimed at interfacing with each other and also charting the way forward.
Speaking during the meeting, state chairman, Ogar Osim, said it’s time to redeem Nigeria and build a country our children will be proud of.
In his words, “I thank you all for choosing the right path and for standing to say Nigeria must be redeemed.
“It’s time to pull our resources and ideas together to redeem Nigeria because our children should have a country they will be proud of.
“People are the structure of the Labour Party and it behoves us all to take the crusade to the various wards and councils.
“If we must deliver at the national and state level, let the music of the Labour Party begin today”, he said.
He added that the emergence of Peter Obi as Presidential candidate of the party has re-inspired hope that the labour of our heroes past will not be in vain.
He said the Labour party is the only party that has solutions to Nigeria’s challenges, right from inception and the coming of Peter Obi has made the party stronger.
Also speaking, a leader of one of the support groups and former deputy vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Uche Amalu, said they joined the Labour party because they believe in the Peter Obi option.
Professor Amalu, who spoke on behalf of the academia said Peter Obi is an enigma and an icon and the academic community in the state is supporting him, so that Nigeria can join the first world.
Several support groups of Peter Obi also gave goodwill messages, as well as representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress.
Stakeholders and party men also agreed to take the message to the grassroots and collectively play their part for the benefit of the country.
