
May 05, (THEWILL) – A Humanitarian Group, known as Ugochinyere Foundation, has declared its total support to the ambition of Chief Fidelis Nwankwo, who is aspiring to be the next Governor of Ebonyi State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Chairman of the Foundation, Dr Oguejiofor Chukwu, stated this during a courtesy visit to the aspirant at his Abakaliki residence.
Ugochinyere Foundation with membership drawn from across Southeastern states, has as its cardinal objective, support for good governance and rendering of humanitarian services.
The Chairman of the Foundation, Dr Oguejiofor Chukwu, explained that the group was delighted that Chief Fidelis Nwankwo offered to serve the people of the state, considering his pedigree in leadership positions.
He described Chief Nwankwo as one of their own, emphasising that members of the Foundation were at his residence to show solidarity and give support to his ambition.
“On this note, we heard about the intention of Engr. Fidelis Nwankwo, that he has a noble project and we decided to partner with him, to show him our solidarity, love, concern and support.
“It’s said that when the righteous are in power, the people rejoice. You know the pedigree and dignity of Engr Fidelis Nwankwo, and we do know that by the special grace of God, he will find himself as the next governor of Ebonyi State.
“Certainly, the people within and even outside the shore of Abakaliki will rejoice. That’s why we are here, to lend him our support and encouragement by appreciating his efforts.
“As I said, his pedigree counts all the ways from the past when he was the Chairman of Izzi Local Government Area, his track records are there when he was General Manager of the NIGERCEM – Nkalagu Cement Industry, we knew what he did there. So, on that note, we pray the good Lord will continue to be with him to accomplish his mission”, the Chairman said.
The Patron of the Foundation, Chief Amobi Longinus, described the aspirant as humane and selfless stating that Ebonyi being one of the states in Alaigbo deserves someone like Chief Nwankwo, who had offered exemplary leadership at various levels of administration.
“By extension, the other South-East states will emulate this, and if by God willing Engr Fidelis Nwankwo becomes the governor of this state, his colleagues in other states of the South-East Zone will be meeting with him to discuss how to develop our states.
“We need development, jobs for our people and believe in him. If you look at the people here, all the states in the Southeast region are well represented, showing that Nwankwo is a good man, with the capacity to occupy the governorship position of the state. We can only support someone we know, trusted, a capacity one to move the state forward.”
The Gubernatorial Aspirant, Chief Nwankwo said his campaign Organisation known as Okwurugeomeru, was pleased with the visit and support of the Foundation.
He emphasised that Ebonyi State deserved good governance which he would be ready to offer and promised that Nkalagu Cement Factory would become operational in fifteen months time if he emerges the winner of the poll.
Chief Nwankwo described members of the Foundation as people of impeccable character that could be trusted in the quest for good governance in Alaigbo.
