February 15, (THEWILL) – The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for Abeokuta South Constituency 1, Hon. Sowunmi Olomu, has said that he would partner with the World Health Organisation (WHO) on free medical services to pregnant women to reduce maternal mortality.
Olomu, who disclosed this on Tuesday, shortly after presenting his manifestoes to the State leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), said that the pregnant women would enjoy free medical services if elected to the seat at the Ogun State House of Assembly
He said the free medical services including ultrasound scanning machines, mosquito nets, and malaria kits, would be given to pregnant women from age 18-60 and other illnesses associated with the pregnancy would be treated at no cost.
The Assembly Candidate, who asked his constituents to vote for him, said that if he wins the seat he would not only provide free medical services to pregnant women till the day of delivery but would also push for people-oriented bills and projects for the development of the constituency
He said, “I will partner with WHO to identify with the pregnant women where they will give them drugs, malaria kits, mosquito nets and they are going to diagnose them with an ultrasound scanning machine.
“They will carry out some tests on them till the delivery day. All these are free and do not attract any cost. The pregnant women we will focus on will be between the age of 18-60 and this is to reduce the death rate of pregnant women.”
