Adeleke - Tinubu

July 22, (THEWILL) — Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, alongside the leadership caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The endorsement was announced on Monday during a meeting held at the Government House in Osogbo.

A communiqué jointly signed by Governor Adeleke and 27 other PDP leaders in the state also confirmed Adeleke’s intention to seek a second term in office on the platform of the PDP.

“Following extensive consultations, debates, surveys, and opinion sampling from traditional rulers, community leaders, civil servants, retirees, religious leaders, market men and women, and the general public across major towns and villages in Osun State, the Leadership Caucus of Osun PDP resolved as follows,” the communiqué stated.

It noted that the majority of PDP members in the state were not in favour of the rumoured defection of Governor Adeleke to the All Progressives Congress but expressed willingness to follow him due to their loyalty and love for his leadership.

The caucus also addressed hostility from some APC stakeholders towards Adeleke, stating that the alleged defection talks did not originate from the governor.

“The state governor, the state government, and the PDP remain very popular and acceptable above all other political parties in Osun State,” the communiqué added.

Consequently, the caucus declared its endorsement of Tinubu, describing him as “a son of the soil,” given that Osun State is his ancestral home.

“The PDP in Osun State hereby adopts and endorses President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential election,” it stated.

The caucus also reaffirmed Adeleke’s endorsement for re-election in 2026 under the PDP and urged all party members in the state to remain loyal to the party.

The communiqué further directed the party leadership to disseminate the resolution across all structures and urged the governor to continue delivering on his administration’s Five-Point Agenda.
