March 24, (THEWILL) — The member of the House of Representatives representing Vandeikya/Konshisha in the lower Chamber of the National Assembly, Hon. Sesoo Gboko Ikpagher, has thrown his weight behind Governor Hyacinth Alia in his re-election bid for the 2027 general elections.
The federal lawmaker, addressing members of Jechira Development Association (JEDA) in Makurdi on Monday, described as mischievous insinuations in some quarters that he was working against the vision of the governor’s administration.
According to him, it was some political jobbers who wanted him out of favour that were promoting such hate in order to find cheap favour with the governor.
“I have a cordial relationship with Governor Alia, my mother having come from Mbangur with him. I have no business fighting the governor. I have not insulted him at any point in time”, Ikpagher stated.
The lawmaker added that experience is the best teacher, saying he and the governor will consolidate on the gains posted so far, calling on Benue people, especially those in the Jechira federal constituency, to vote massively for them in the 2027 general elections.
He insists that Benue APC is one under the leadership of Governor Alia and called on members to join hands to foster unity and development of the state.
Ikpagher, who said his political difference with the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Aondowase Kunde, has been resolved, assured him of his support for the 2027 House of Assembly seat ambition.
In his remarks, the Commissioner, Mr Kunde, commended Ikpagher for retracing his steps to the right track, noting that Governor Alia is embracing the people of Konshisha as seen in the appointment and infrastructural development of the area and beyond.
Mr Kunde, therefore, called on the federal lawmaker to work closely with the governor in order to drive home the needed unity and development, saying the 2027 ambition in the state is guaranteed under the APC.
On his part, the Special Adviser to the governor on Religion and Society, Revd King David AJav, prayed for unity of purpose amongst Jechira people, saying Governor Alia has already passed the litmus test in governance and deserved consolidation in 2027.
In his remarks, the former Executive Secretary of Benue State Health Management Board, Dr Bem Ageda, attest to the competence of Hon. Ikpagher to sustain the good work he has started as representative of Jechira federal constituency thus far, saying if reelected in 2027, he will consolidate on the gains for the good of Jechira people.
In their separate remarks, the Presidents General of Gyakyor Development Association (GYASDA), Titus Ubagu, G-7 Support Initiative, Samuel Adans, and Engr Pepe Gbe, all pledged support for Governor Alia and Reps Ikpagher to realise their second term bids in 2027.
