April 16, (THEWILL) – Former President Goodluck Jonathan has debunked reports claiming he endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 general elections.
An online platform (not THEWILL) had alleged that the former President, during his visit to Seoul, South Korea, where he received the 2025 Sunhak Peace Prize, declared that no political coalition formed against Tinubu would succeed in stopping his return to office.
But in a swift rebuttal on Wednesday, Jonathan’s Special Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, dismissed the report as entirely false and misleading.
“The attention of the Media Office of His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2010–2015), has been drawn to a piece of false information with the above title, currently spreading on a segment of the social media.
“This is fake news fabricated by agents of disinformation. At no point did Dr. Jonathan speak to any journalist on the forthcoming 2027 elections,” the statement read.
Eze urged the public to disregard the report, describing it as a desperate attempt to draw the former President into partisan political conversations.
