September 11, (THEWILL) — Islamic scholars and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from across Kano State on Thursday held special prayers for the success of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election and for the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, to emerge as governor of the state.
The prayer session, which took place at Gidan Baban Liya, Kurna in Kano Municipal, was organised by the Tinubu/Barau/Ata Movement.
It featured Qur’anic recitations, prayers, and the slaughtering of a ram, with participants asking for divine guidance and electoral victory for the APC leaders.
Convener of the movement, Hon. Seyi Olorunsola, told journalists that the spiritual exercise was to seek God’s support for Tinubu’s re-election and Barau’s governorship ambition.
“President Tinubu has done incredibly well in just two yearsfrom road projects to tackling insecurity and stabilising food prices.
“Nigerians are beginning to feel the impact of his leadership, and we believe he deserves a second term,” Olorunsola said.
On Barau Jibrin’s chances, Olorunsola described him as the strongest candidate to wrest power from the NNPP in Kano, stressing that pairing him with the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Yusuf Ata, would create a formidable ticket.
“By our calculation, with Barau in Kano North, Senator Kawu Sumaila in Kano South, and Ata from Kano Central, the APC will present a balanced team capable of winning with ease in 2027,” he added.
Also speaking, Saminu Khalid Abdullahi, Sarkin Yakin Matasa, said the Tinubu/Barau/Ata Movement was created to mobilise grassroots support for the trio, while rallying citizens behind their governance agenda.
Abdullahi Yusuf is a seasoned journalist, communicator and was previously the Deputy Editor-In-Chief and Zonal Manager, News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Jos, where he retired on December 15, 2021
