December 04, (THEWILL) – The Lagos branch of the Niger Delta Youths has officially endorsed Seyi Tinubu for the governorship of Lagos State in 2027, urging him to carry on the legacy of his father, Bola Tinubu, and continue building on the strong foundation established in the state.
The endorsement, which reflects the group’s belief in Seyi Tinubu’s detribalized nature, was made public during a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday.
Comrade Sele Diseye, National Coordinator of the Good Governance Project 2023-2031, stated that Tinubu, like his father, has empowered people from all ethnic backgrounds, both within and outside Lagos, and is well-positioned to lead the state, which is home to people of diverse ethnicities and religions.
He said, “Seyi Tinubu is a unifying force who has shown a deep commitment to all tribes, religions, and genders.
“Just like his father, he believes in the inclusivity of all people, irrespective of their background. The people of Lagos, a highly diverse state, need a leader like him, who can bring everyone together without bias.”
According to Diseye, Tinubu’s ability to engage with all people, regardless of their ethnicity, makes him the ideal candidate to lead the state in 2027.
He emphasised that, as someone with strong ties to the South East and the Niger Delta region through his marriage and family, Seyi is well-positioned to address any tribal sentiments and concerns in the state.
He stated, “Many sons and daughters of prominent leaders have been assessed by us.
“But Seyi Tinubu stands out because of his genuine connection to people across all divides. He does not come across as someone distant from the masses. His experience, his links to different tribes, and his efforts to promote national unity make him one of the most detribalized young leaders in the country.”
Diseye also highlighted Seyi Tinubu’s proactive response to national crises, citing his swift action during the recent floods in Borno, where he mobilized resources and provided significant support to the victims.
“How many children of presidents or politicians have shown such hands-on involvement in national issues?” Diseye questioned.
The Good Governance Project 2023-2031, which endorsed Seyi Tinubu for Lagos governorship, also praised his commitment to youth empowerment and national integration, recognizing his efforts to support young people from diverse backgrounds over the past two years.
