December 30, (THEWILL) — The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has declared that the Southeast geopolitical zone will deliver a massive vote for President Bola Tinubu and Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, in the 2027 general election.
Speaking at his country home in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, Umahi insisted that the region’s interests are better secured through strategy and constructive engagement than through sentiment.
Addressing political, religious, and community groups during a Christmas homage, the former Ebonyi State governor stated that the Southeast has no reason to “deceive itself” about its political choices.
He argued that President Tinubu has demonstrated a clear commitment to the region’s development through significant infrastructure projects that serve as tangible evidence of inclusion.
“You ask me what the President has done for the Southeast, and I will tell you,” Umahi said.
“We are talking about real projects, not social media sentiments. The road to Onitsha is Biafra.
The Second Niger Bridge is Biafra. These are the ‘Biafra’ we are looking for, achievements our people should focus on rather than rhetoric.”
The minister listed the Second Niger Bridge, the Enugu–Onitsha (Nnewi) Road, and the Owerri–Aba Road as key achievements of the current administration.
He emphasised that while the Southeast has historically faced marginalization, such issues can only be addressed through wisdom and political positioning within the national tripod.
“We can never win by sentiments or hate; we can only win by strategy,” Umahi noted. “When it is our turn to produce the President, we must be wise enough to position ourselves.”
