June 21, (THEWILL) – On Friday, the National Rescue Movement (NRM) stated that it was ready to rescue Nigerians from the current hardships of hunger, inflation and insecurity bedevilling the nation as a result of subsidy removal, come the 2027 election.
The National Women Leader of the party, Mrs Sola Oluwatunmise, disclosed this in Abeokuta, the state capital, when she visited the women wing of NRM in Ogun State to mobilise and empower them to support the party in the forthcoming election.
Oluwastunmise said that the party was ready to take over the reins of power from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) come the 2027 elections, noting that Nigerians were tired of the shackles of hardships brought by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.
She lamented the low percentage of women in politics, saying that it was high time Nigerian women took back their power in politics, while insisting that her plan to visit all 36 states was to mobilise and build more women to engage in politics.
The National Women Leader said, “NRM is a movement and a political party. I am surprised when people say they have not heard about NRM, the party has been in existence for the past 5 years.
“We are here to rescue Nigerians from hunger, inflation, insecurity. That is why we are here today to mobilise women across Nigeria. This is the women’s wing of the party, that is why I am here today, if by next week you will see me in another state, because I will be going through all 36 states to mobilise and strengthen our women and bring them out in politics.
“This 2027, we have to come out, women have to be heard, if you look at the percentage of women involved in politics, especially in Nigeria, is not more than 3%, and that is not enough. My Interest is to build more women to come into politics to gain power”, she added
