
August 03, (THEWILL) – The police, on Saturday, said a total of 618 suspects have been arrested for various violent crimes since the ongoing nationwide protest against hunger and economic hardship commenced on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
The suspects were arrested in Abuja, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Nasarawa, and Sokoto, Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
Adejobi also said nine Officers sustained various degrees of injuries during attacks by the protesters; adding that a police officer, who was reported murdered on the first day of the protests has “miraculously survived”.
“Nine (9) police officers sustained various degrees of injuries during attacks by protesters. One of them who initially was reported dead, miraculously survived but remains in critical condition”, he said.
