December 31, (THEWILL) – The Director General of the Campaign Hon. Essien Ayi Organisation, Emmanuel Effiong, has said only the incumbent House of Representatives has the experience and competence to represent the area in the National Assembly.
Effiong, who is popularly called Papa Eyo, disclosed this during a reception to welcome several defectors to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Calabar South.
He said for the people of the constituency, it’s all about competency and Hon. Ayi, who is going for his fifth term in the green chamber, is good to go.
He described the former Chairman of Calabar South LGA as one of the few people in power, who listens to his constituents and is always there for them.
“Our people believe that the position of House of Representatives for the Akpabuyo, Bakassi and Calabar South Federal Constituency is all about competence and it’s only Essien Ayi, who has competence and experience.
“We need experienced hands to go back and continue the good work.
“He is one of the few people in power, who listens to his constituents and sees how he can help them.
“He is equally a household name that has the Goodwill, heart of gold, operates an open door policy, is accessible and spends time with his constituents,” he said.
Welcoming the defectors, the Campaign DG thanked them for returning to the PDP, saying the APC is a failed government that deceives the people and has nothing to offer.
“You can deceive the people at some point but not all the time.
“It has done on our people that the APC government has nothing to offer and these people have put themselves together, woken up and realised the PDP is the way to go.
“Having this kind of failed government, they don’t need to be told that they need to come back home,” he said.
On his part, Antigha Bassey, the Calabar South Chapter secretary of the PDP, said most of the defectors came from the APC but a few of them were sitting on the fence but decided to pitch tents with the PDP.
He faulted the back-to-South agenda, saying what they are concerned about is back to us because they are feeling the pains of what is going on in the country and state.
Antigha Bassey, who doubles as the Campaign DG of the Anthony Nya Campaign Council, added that the PDP is waxing stronger not just in the ABC Constituency but across the state.
About 46 political leaders were welcomed to the party during the reception, which was graced by thousands of supporters across the ABC Constituency.
