SAN FRANCISCO, September 14, (THEWILL) – The Dean of The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) and Archbishop of the Province of Niger Delta, Most Rev. Ignatius Kattey, who was kidnapped last week has been freed by his abductors.

Kattey, who   was abducted with  his wife, Beatrice, on Friday, September 6, along Aleto-Eleme in Eleme Local Government Area of River State, regained his freedom Saturday night.

The kidnappers had earlier abandoned his wife and the car when they were being pursued by the police before escaping into the bush with the Archbishop.

The River State Police Command  has  confirmed  his release from captivity  though  the   Public Relations Officer( PPRO ) of the state  Police Command, DSP Angela Agabe, could not provide much details and it was  not also  clear  if any ransom was paid to the kidnappers.
