April 13, (THEWILL) – Joshua Rogers, the Channels Television reporter, who was kidnapped near his residence at Rumuosi community in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State, on Thursday night, has regained his freedom.
A staff of Channels Television in Port Harcourt, Charles Oporum, said Rogers release, said he was released around 10:00 pm on Friday.
“Yes, he has been released. He was released about an hour ago and he has reunited with his family.”
Channels Television confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday.
The statement read: “Channels Television reporter, Joshua Rogers, who was abducted last night in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has been freed. We thank our viewers and all those who expressed concern over the unfortunate incident.”
Meanwhile, the wife and house help of Terwase Orbunde, a former Chief of Staff to former Benue Governor Samuel Ortom, have been abducted by gunmen l.
Orbude, however escaped with a gunshot on his right arm while the attackers whisked away his wife (Abigail Kashimana Orbunde) and her house help, Patience Ogute.
The attack was said to have taken place close to the Genocide Cemetery along Mobile Barracks-Welfare Quarters Road in Makurdi, the state capital around 6 pm on Friday.
Eyewitnesses said they had gone to inspect the weeding of their farm located close to the road when they were attacked by gunmen.
It was reported that they shot Orbunde in the right arm while ordering the women to follow them to an unknown destination.
The eyewitnesses, who watched from a distance, said the leader of the group ordered him to walk away while the gunmen took the women away before good Samaritans rushed Orbunde to the hospital.
